China Coal Research Institute ( CCRI ), established in 1957 is an exclusive comprehensive research and development institute in Chinese coal industry. In the year of 1999, CCRI was turned into a key backbone enterprise under the direct leadership of the Central Enterprise Working Commission. There are 17 branches, institutes, centers and companies in CCRI and they are located 11 large and medium cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Taiyuan and others.

There are strong and rich manpower resources in CCRI with a staff member over 5,200. Among the figure, the professional technical personnel are taking 66.4 % and there are 3 members of Chinese Academy of Engineering and over 1,500 senior professional engineers. CCRI has a strong technical strength. There are 7 national level and 6 industrial level product quality inspection and test centers and a national mine safety measurement station set up in CCRI, which are equipped with international advanced level test and measurement means. During the passed 45 years, CCRI obtained 4,000 research and development achievements. 1,000 research and development programs won the National and Provincial Prizes and over 50 achievements got the patents. There are 3 authorized doctor degree and master degree posts. With all above, CCRI became the main force to push the technical advancing in the coal industry.
